German Pancakes

When I was in middle school, I took a home economics class.  This was the first thing that we cooked.  I was already familiar with this recipe since my mom made it at home, but many of my classmates had never heard of it.  It’s simple and delicious.

Ingredients
  1. 6 tablespoons butter
  2. 6 eggs (beaten)
  3. 1 cup milk
  4. 1 cup flour
  5. ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Melt the butter in a 13 x 9 in pan in the oven as it’s heating. Watch carefully, that it doesn’t burn.
  3. Add the milk, flour, and salt to the beaten eggs, and beat until combined.
  4. Moving the 13 x 9 in pan as little as possible, pour the milk/egg mixture over the melted butter, but don’t stir.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately.

Set oven to 450 degrees F, and place in a 13 x 9 inch pan:
6 tablespoons butter
Allow to melt in oven as it’s heating. Don’t let it burn.

While the butter is melting,

Beat
6 eggs

Add:
1 cup flour
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup milk

Beat just until incorporated.

Pour the batter into the center of the melted butter, but do NOT mix.

Gently transfer to oven, and bake at 450 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Remove from oven, …

… and serve with warm maple syrup.

So easy, and so delicious!
