Be My Valentine Sugar Cookies

Nothing says “I love you” like a delicious, homemade cookie.  These cookies are sweet, but a tiny bit salty.  They’re soft, and the frosting is buttery and wonderful.  I’ve made a LOT of different recipes, and these are still my favorite!  You just can’t improve on perfection!

Start by lining your cookie sheets with parchment. If you prefer to grease your baking pan, instead, that’s fine.

Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, and mix well with a fork.

Your dough will be fairly dry, and look a little crumbly. At this point you can refrigerate, or just start rolling them out.

When you're ready to roll, preheat the oven to 400 degrees, and dust your surface with flour.

Using about half the dough, form a disc.

Using your favorite Valentine cookie cutters, cut the dough. This dough is fragile, so I use a thin, metal spatula to lift the dough to my baking pan.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 5-7 minutes. Watch carefully, as you don’t want them to brown on the edges.

When they come out of the oven, let them cool on the pan for 2 minutes, then transfer them to a rack. Cool completely.
